Enabling Remote Connections - SQL Server 2005 Express

To enable remote connections for SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, perform the following procedure.

  1. Start Menu > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
  2. Click Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections.
  3. Expand Database Engine and click Remote Connections.
  4. Select Local and Remote Connections.
  5. Select Both TCPIP and named pipes.
  6. Use Database > Service to restart the database.

A reboot may be necessary
